Updated 8am, Wednesday 29 November: Search crews have located 95-year-old Franz Tuma deceased in Bridport overnight.
Police are currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
“Our thoughts and condolences are with the family and loved ones of the man,” police said.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
Unattended vehicle sparks search for missing 95-year-old in Bridport
Significant police resources are currently searching the Bridport area in Tasmania’s north-east after a 95-year-old man was reported missing.
Emma Street resident Franz Tuma is believed to have gone missing at some stage on Tuesday morning.
Police say his vehicle has been found “unattended” near the local surf club, where it may have been for “several hours”.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter has been dispatched as part of the search for the elderly resident, who may be dressed in a checkered shirt and long pants.
Anyone who has seen Mr Tuma today, or may know where he is, is being asked to contact police on 131 444 or Triple Zero (000) in an emergency.
