Launceston Airport has just experienced its busiest August on record, with over a whopping 99,000 passengers passing through.
The number has surpassed the previous high of 95,194 passengers recorded in August 2019 and marks the first time the airport has exceeded pre-pandemic levels.
Airport CEO Shane O’Hare said the increase in passenger numbers can be attributed to a combination of factors, including a surge in Tasmanian outbound tourism, a resurgence in small to mid-sized enterprises traveling and fly-in-fly-out workers.
The airport’s consistent airline capacity and the building awareness of Tasmania as an off-season destination also contributed to the increase in passengers.

Additional services to Adelaide and Perth will start in October, with the new airline Bonza scheduled to arrive in November, providing passengers with more choice at affordable prices.
The airport is currently undergoing a $100,000 ten-year infrastructure plan, which will create hundreds of jobs for locals.
