An invaluable echidna quill necklace made by Aboriginal artist Aunty Jeanette James has been stolen from the Rosny Barn.
The ‘culturally significant piece of art’ was set to be featured in an exhibition at the arts venue, which was forced to launch without the necklace.

With a unique appearance, the necklace has been deemed “unsellable” without a certificate of authenticity, making it a challenge for the thief to profit from it.
The Clarence Council has pleaded for the necklace’s return and is working with Tasmania Police to recover it.
The exhibition will run until September 24.
