Accidental fire causes $700,000 damage, completely destroys Carrick home

A home has been completely destroyed by fire in the state’s north.

Fire crews Launceston, Carrick and Westbury were called to the blaze near the intersection of Meander Valley Road and Illawarra Road just before 11am on Friday.

They found the single-story house fully engulfed in fire, with images from the scene showing the roof of the property sagging.

After investigation, authorities determined the fire to be accidental and estimated the damage to total around $700,000.

Nobody was injured in the incident.
