AEDs Now Available in More Rural Areas of Tasmania

90 additional automatic external defibrillators (AEDs) are set to be distributed to communities across Tasmania in the coming months.

The move follows the distribution of 180 AEDs in 2018/2019, bringing the total number of AEDs provided by the Government to 360 as part of their effort to improve healthcare access and services for all residents of the state.

Acting Premier Michael Ferguson said this program will ensure even more regional and rural communities have access to this lifesaving equipment.

“These devices are easy to use without any training and are audio-equipped to guide the user through the procedure.”

“They’re also easy to find should you need one, with an Ambulance Tasmania smart phone app showing their locations across the State, along with directions on how to access it.”

Individuals and organisations who own or are about to own an AED are also encouraged to register their devices under the Early Access to Defibrillator Program online, by calling 1300 979 057 or emailing [email protected].
