Agfest kicks off at Quercus Park for 2025 with ‘perfect autumn conditions’

Perfect autumn conditions welcomed more than 14,600 people to Day 1 of Agfest 2025 on Thursday, as Tasmania’s premier agricultural event opened its gates to showcase the latest in farming innovation, machinery and entertainment.

The event was officially opened by Tasmania’s Governor Barbara Baker, while Premier Jeremy Rockliff paid tribute to the event’s volunteer workforce, noting their young average age of 21-years-old.

Children’s television characters Bluey and Bingo proved to be crowd favourites, with organisers confirming additional shows scheduled for Friday at 11.30am and 1.30pm.

William Adams Cat is one of the event’s longest-standing exhibitors, having been at Agfest since 1983.

Their Marketing Manager, Glen Slocombe, said the annual event has an enduring appeal.

“We keep coming back to Agfest because it is a great opportunity to showcase our latest machinery and connect with our customers,” he said.

Agfest Chair Dylan Bellchambers said he was proud of both the event and the team behind it.

“The site is the fullest it’s been in my seven years here,” he said.

Visitors attending on Day 2 are being encouraged to wear gumboots, with a special gumboot parade scheduled for 10.30am at Central Arena.

Decorated boots could win participants vouchers donated by Woolworths.

The first day attracted 14,637 attendees who enjoyed agricultural displays, food vendors and entertainment options across the showgrounds.
