The Roulettes Air Force aerobatics team will take to the skies of Launceston today in preparation for their aerial displays at the Battle of Britain Commemorations in Hobart this weekend.

Up to six Pilatus PC-21 aircraft will engage in practice flights over Launceston Airport from 3:30pm, with the training scheduled to last for just under an hour.

For those wishing to get the best view of the aerial display, officials recommend parking next to the air traffic control tower.

The aircraft will fly around Hobart’s Constitution Dock, the Cenotaph and Queen’s Domain on both Saturday and Sunday.

The flying schedule is subject to air traffic control requirements, weather conditions and operational availability and may be cancelled at short notice.

UPDATE 12:20PM: The flyover practice display has been cancelled.

A Defence Force spokesperson said poor weather has forced the change, with the aircraft needing to arrive in Hobart earlier than originally scheduled.
