It is understood airport staff are prioritising passengers with flights scheduled to depart soon to minimise delays.

A spokesperson for Hobart Airport told Pulse they apologise for any inconvenience caused by the delays.

“Due to the start of the school holidays we have significant volumes of travellers passing through the airport and coupled with a mechanical failure of one of the security lanes, this has caused delays,” they said.

“We have technicians on site undertaking repairs and would ask the travelling public to please allow for a bit of extra time while make the necessary repairs and deal with the queues.”
