Argyle Street in Hobart has been identified as the city’s most accident-prone location, according to the latest data from insurer AAMI.
The 2023 AAMI Crash Index analysed over 350,000 insurance claims nationwide, covering the period from July 1 2022 to June 30 2023.
The index revealed that Argyle Street topped the list for the highest number of accidents, followed by Macquarie Street, Main Road Moonah, Sandy Bay Road, Murray Street and Main Road Glenorchy.
Liverpool Street, Bathurst Street and Campbell Street also made the top 10 for the first time.

In 2022, Davey Street held the dubious honor of being Hobart’s accident hotspot, followed closely by Macquarie Street and the Brooker Highway.
According to the index, male drivers in the city had a 51% chance of being involved in accidents, slightly higher than female drivers at 49%.
Those aged 35-49 were identified as the most frequent offenders, accounting for 23% of accidents.
