A 31-year-old man from Goodwood has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm after a serious assault at a Woolworths supermarket in Moonah on Wednesday.
The man was arrested in the Hobart CBD on Friday afternoon after being promptly identified by Glenorchy CIB detectives following the incident.
Police say they believe that the two men knew each other and that the attack was not random.
The victim, a 30-year-old man was left with a head injury and remains in a serious condition at the Royal Hobart Hospital.

The extent of the his injuries are currently unknown.
The accused has been detained for court, with a date for the hearing yet to be confirmed.
Wednesday: Man critical after supermarket attack in Moonah
A man has been left with serious injuries and another is on the run after an assault at a Moonah supermarket tonight.
The 30-year-old victim is currently in a serious condition at the Royal Hobart Hospital with multiple head injuries.
Police say multiple officers are investigating the attack, with a search currently underway to identify and locate the ‘adult male’ offender.
“A number of police resources including forensics, crime scene examiners and detectives from CIB attended the scene and are investigating the matter.”
In a statement, a Woolworths spokesperson told Pulse “there’s no place for this in our stores and we’re assisting local police with their investigation.”
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information is asked to contact police.
No weapons were reported to be used in the attack.
