Two men have been charged with attempted murder over an alleged shooting in Hobart’s northern suburbs that left a man with serious injuries nine months ago.

The pair, aged 25 and 31, were arrested today after detectives and specialist police executed search warrants at properties in Herdsmans Cove.

Police will allege a man was shot on Calvert Crescent shortly before 5pm on Saturday January 18, in what they described as a “targeted” attack.

He sustained serious injuries to his head and neck.

“Police will allege those involved are known to each other and that the incident was targeted,” a police spokesperson said.

The two men were initially charged with drug and serious firearms offences in February following a search of a Herdsmans Cove address.

However, investigations continued and led to the more serious attempted murder charges being laid on Tuesday.

Both men have also been charged with additional firearms offences and are expected to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court today.
