International cricket will make a welcome return to Tasmania, with both men’s and women’s matches locked in for the 2025–26 summer.
For the first time in 17 years, every Australian capital city will host international cricket, with Tasmania securing two high-profile matches against India.
Sports and Events Minister Nick Duigan revealed the schedule today, confirming Ninja Stadium will host both games.
“Cricket fans will be excited to learn the Australian Men’s team will play a white ball series T20 match here against India in November,” Duigan said.

“Equally exciting is that the Australian Women’s team will round out the schedule. There will be a ODI game held at Ninja stadium with Australia’s Women’s team taking on India on February 27.”
The announcement follows a golden period for Tasmanian cricket, with the Hobart Hurricanes claiming their first BBL title earlier this year.

Participation in cricket across the state continues to surge, with a 10% increase recorded between the 2022–23 and 2023–24 seasons.
“Excitingly, this growth has been driven by programs like Cricket Blast, social competitions and indoor cricket,” Duigan said.
“Female participation has also increased by 4% during this period.”
The state government has committed $3.56 million in 2024–25 to support Cricket Tasmania, boosting grassroots programs and building pathways for players, umpires and coaches.

“Hosting international matches provides the community with access to live sporting content and it also showcases the state as a premier events and tourism destination,” Duigan said.
“But beyond that it offers young Tasmanian cricketers and those considering taking up the sport, a beacon of light to aim for.”
The men’s T20 against India is scheduled for Sunday, 2 November 2025, with the women’s ODI taking place on Friday, 27 February 2026.
