Tasmania Police “increased” patrols around Salamanca over the weekend following last month’s fatal stabbing that claimed the life of a 20-year-old man.
The heightened police presence saw 12 people formally directed to leave the area to prevent potential disturbances.
Police said no arrests were made and no major incidents occurred.
“Our officers were on hand to provide a visible presence, support public safety and reassure the community,” police said.
The 20-year-old died after an alleged altercation in the Morrison Street car park on October 25.
A 23-year-old man was also injured in the incident.
A 17-year-old boy has been charged with murder and wounding and remains in custody over the incident.
He was remanded to appear in court again on November 19.
“We’re committed to ensuring Salamanca remains a safe and welcoming space for everyone so don’t hesitate to speak with us when you see us on the beat,” police said.
