A new $43.6 million sports complex in Launceston has taken a step forward – with the filing of a development application by the Department of State Growth.
The Northern Suburbs Community Recreation Hub will feature nine courts, a 198-seat grandstand, rock climbing and gymnastics facilities.
The hub will also include a weightlifting, boxing, and dojo space, a cafe and other amenities.
Set to be located at 316-320 Invermay Road in Mowbray, the project is part of the $536 million Launceston City Deal signed in 2017.
The State Government say the center is expected to provide significant benefits to the community and address the shortage of basketball and netball courts in the area.
A tender for early stage 1 works on the project was recently awarded to Tasmania’s Anstie Constructions.
