The new CEO of the National Basketball League is calling on the state government to invest more money into Hobart’s MyState Bank Arena, the home of the Tasmania JackJumpers.
David Stevenson wants the seating capacity of the venue, which currently holds 4,300 people for basketball games and 5,500 people when fully-seated, significantly increased to meet the high demand for JackJumpers tickets.
After selling out every home game in their two years of existence, Stevenson believes that the success of the JackJumpers warrants a revisit of the arena’s capacity.
He suggests increasing it to the 7000-9000 zone.

The demand for JackJumpers memberships is already exceptionally high, with around 1,500 people on the waiting list eager to join.
The team’s memberships for the 2023-24 season have already sold out and tickets to games have been selling quickly.
