A beloved Kingston vet and boss of the local Animal Hospital has passed away after a recent health battle.

Dr Chris Lee is being remembered by the clinic and his patients as a ‘kind and caring’ person who had a ‘great passion’ for the veterinary industry and was dedicated to caring for ‘all creatures great and small’.

In March, a team from the Hospital joined the ‘Put Your Foot Down’ for pancreatic cancer walk for Dr Lee – “one of the most important and special people” in their lives.

“More than a boss and a mentor, he is quite literally one of our best friends,” the Kingston Animal Hospital wrote earlier this year.

“Chris has devoted his life to helping sick and injured animals – he has selflessly given his time and expertise to ensuring they have the best chance of recovery.”

The Hospital said Chris was suffering from pancreatic cancer, which had “thrown a few spanners in [his] life lately”.

“At times it doesn’t feel real to watch one of the strongest men you know suffer through this.”

“But to do so with such grace and strength is truly inspirational, and goes to show the kind of man he really is.”

“To be able to put money towards a man that would never take it himself is such a reward to us all.”

“The highlight will definitely come in making him proud and to put that amazing smile on his dial to see us all together doing everything we can for him – just like he has done for each and every one of us time and again.”

The Hospital ask their patients to ‘bear with them’ as they “work through this difficult time”.
