Tasmanians have been greeted by a yet another cosmic light show, as the Aurora Australis painted the night sky in vibrant hues across the state.
The spectacular display, also known as the Southern Lights, was triggered by a solar storm that propelled energy from the sun towards Earth and into its magnetic field.

The aurora was visible between 8pm and 9pm on Friday night, following another display on Thursday evening.
“I wasn’t expecting to walk out of my garage tonight and come face to face with one of the best auroras I’ve ever seen,” said Glenorchy resident Annie Benham.
“It was too good not to share it so I ran around knocking on neighbours’ doors. We stood outside in awe.”
