“She will be rebuilt”: That’s the message from the owners of the Nunamara Store after a devastating fire tore through the business today.
The store on the Tasman Highway around 20 minutes from Launceston went up in flames at 12:40pm on Wednesday and ‘could not be saved’ by firefighters.
The TFS tell Pulse the blaze has been deemed accidental, with the damage bill exceeding $800,000.
Locals say the fire is ‘very sad’ for the small community, who will now be without a general store and post office.

2:45pm, Wednesday December 6: A general store in the state’s north is believed to have been severely damaged after a blaze broke out at the business this afternoon.
Firefighters from Launceston and Rocherlea are currently at the scene of the fire at the Nunamara Store, around 20 minutes from Launceston CBD.
“The fire has been extinguished and crews will be in attendance for some time making the scene safe and completing a fire investigation,” a TFS spokesperson said.
Tasmania Police earlier cautioned motorists who were driving in the area that one lane of the Tasman Highway had been closed.
“Motorists are asked to slow down and drive with caution,” a police spokesperson said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
