UPDATE – 4:30PM: Police have confirmed the ‘suspicious bag’ in a Hobart GP clinic which triggered a bomb squad response this afternoon ‘just contained headphones and leads’.
Police say the bag will be returned to its owner thanks to identifying material found inside.
UPDATE – 4PM: Police advise that Bathurst Street is now open and traffic has returned to normal.
EARLIER – 2:20 PM: A central Hobart urgent care clinic and chemist has been evacuated and Bathurst Street has been closed in a dramatic incident this afternoon.
Police say they are dealing with an “isolated incident” at Your Hobart Health on 71 Bathurst Street.
The business has been evacuated whilst an unatteded bag is examined.
Police say no threats have been made in relation to the matter, but are asking the public to avoid the immediate area “whilst the article is cleared”.
Bathurst Street is closed, with traffic and pedestrians urged to comply with directions by Police.
