Police have confirmed a man has died and another man has suffered head injuries after an incident at Granton in the early hours of this morning.
Neighbours reportedly heard gunshots ring out around 1 AM at the property near the Bridgewater Bridge before Police and Ambulance crews rushed to the scene.
On arrival, authorities found the body of a deceased male outside the residence, while another male was located inside with head injuries and was transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital for care.
While Police are yet to make any official comment, eye-witnesses believe the incident may be related to the prisoner who escaped custody from the RHH shortly before 11 PM last night.
An investigation is underway and further information will be provided later this morning.
