Over 3,500 lightning strikes have hit Tasmania and the surrounding waters in the last hour as a ‘violent’ storm-front closes in on the state.

The SES are still warning of “giant hail” of 5cm+ diameter, strong wind gusts above 90km/h and localised heavy rainfall in parts of the state this afternoon.
