A drunk Bridgewater learner driver has had his license suspended for two years after he was caught travelling 33kmh over the limit on the Brooker Highway last night.

Police say the 35-year-old man was intercepted while travelling at 133 kmh in a 100 kmh zone on the Brooker Highway at Claremont around 8:15pm last night.

The suspended learner driver, who was unaccompanied by a licenced driver, also returned a breath alcohol reading of 0.154, three times over the legal limit.

“His licence was immediately suspended for a period of two years,” said Inspector Jim Semmens.

“Disappointingly, the man also had 4 children in the car at the time he was intercepted.”

“This is an example of poor driver behaviour that could very easily result in tragedy.”
