Police are investigating a suspicious fire that broke out at a vacant property on Campbell Street in Hobart on Sunday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the building just after 1:20pm following reports of smoke coming from the premises, including from the upper levels.
Tasmania Fire Service crews extinguished the blaze and searched the building, confirming no one was inside at the time.
The property is currently unoccupied, but police said they were aware of reports it may have been “accessed by squatters in recent times”.

Traffic in the surrounding area was temporarily disrupted while crews worked at the scene, with Campbell Street closed for multiple hours.
The cause of the fire has not been determined and will be examined by fire investigators.

Police are treating the blaze as suspicious and have urged anyone with information to come forward.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000,” police said.
