Police have charged a Burnie man with burglary and stealing after a local pharmacy was allegedly broken into and medication worth an estimated $6,700 taken.
Police allege the 24-year-old forced his way into the pharmacy shortly after 5:10am on Wednesday morning.
Items taken included a “significant quantity” of prescription and other medications, police said.
The man is then alleged to have left the pharmacy. Officers from Western Criminal Investigation Division (CIB) found him around three hours later.
When he was found, police allege he had the stolen property with him.

He remained in custody and is expected to appear in the Burnie Magistrates Court today.
