A teenager who allegedly went on a window-smashing spree in Burnie overnight has left behind ‘significant damage’.
The 15-year-old girl believed to be behind the attack smashed multiple large panes of glass in the multi-storey car park and windows of other CBD businesses.
The council, which recently shortened the car park’s opening hours due to escalating anti-social behavior in the area, says the city has been experiencing a rise in anti-social behavior and has requested a greater police presence.
Mayor Teeny Brumby said the incident was “obviously concerning”, and the council will continue to work with the police to “deal with criminal and anti-social behaviours in our CBD”.
“Unfortunately, there are no quick fixes to the current problem, but Burnie City Council and our community leaders will continue to work on local solutions,” she said.
