The Tasmania Fire Service has issued a Watch and Act warning for people in Crawlers Gully at Nugent as an approaching bushfire threatens to impact the area.
The bushfire is moving toward Crawlers Gully and is expected to affect Bezzants Road, Crawlers Gully Road, Nugent Road and surrounding areas imminently.
Fire authorities warn the blaze, east of Sorell, will be difficult to control, with ember attacks likely to reach properties before the main fire front arrives.
“Embers, smoke, and ash may fall … and threaten you and your home before the main fire.” a Tasmania Fire Service spokesperson said.

“Smoke and ash may make it difficult to see and breathe.”
Emergency crews are attending the scene, but warn that conditions are expected to change rapidly.

People who have prepared bushfire plans are urged to implement them immediately, while those without adequate preparations should consider leaving for safer locations.
“If you are not prepared for a bushfire, be ready to leave for a safer place. If you stay, your home may not be defendable,” the spokesperson said.
The TFS said staying with family or friends away from the affected area remains the safest option, but cautioned residents to only travel if conditions are safe.
