Car crashes into tree on Channel Highway, one taken to hospital

At least one person has been taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital after the car they were travelling in crashed into a tree on the Channel Highway.

Emergency services were called to the collision at the intersection with Freeman Street around 5pm on Thursday.

Police said no serious injuries have been reported.

Motorists have been asked to avoid the area while the scene was cleared.
