A children’s playground in Glenorchy has been badly damaged after a dramatic blaze tonight.
Footage obtained by Pulse shows a car on fire rolling down Stansbury Street before ploughing through a fence and coming to a stop in the local playground.
A spokesperson for the Tasmania Fire Service said crews were called to the blaze at around 9:15pm on Monday night and have since handed the scene over to Police.
Following the incident, Police revealed that the Nissan Navara was stolen from Bridgewater earlier in the evening before being set alight.
Glenorchy City Council crews carried out clean up works at the playground on Tuesday morning following the “disappointing act of vandalism”.
“Council’s Parks and Recreation team arrived first thing in the morning to assess damage and make the site usable until damaged equipment can be replaced,” the council said.
