Security camera footage has captured the moment a speeding car crashed into a ute in north-west Tasmania.
Three people were taken to hospital after the crash in Latrobe on Friday evening.
Police are now trying to piece together the car’s movements before it happened.
They are appealing for anyone who saw a black Ford Falcon “being driven in an erratic manner” on Mersey Main Road between Spreyton and Latrobe around 5pm.
The CCTV shows a quiet street with people walking nearby as a white Ford Ranger drives into view.
The Falcon can be heard screeching as it speeds through the intersection of Percival and Cotton streets and hits the Ranger.
It appears to strike the ute’s rear passenger side, pushing it sideways and spinning it around, with a loud bang heard at the moment of impact.
The Falcon’s driver, who was alone in the car, was on Saturday being treated at the Royal Hobart Hospital.
Two people in the Ranger were taken to the North West Regional Hospital for treatment and observation.
