Celebrity Tassie chef Matthew Evans, known for his starring role on the hit 2010 SBS show Gourmet Farmer, has announced that he and his partner Sadie Chrestman will be leaving their successful farm-to-plate venture at their family farm.

Fat Pig Farm, located in the picturesque Huon Valley south of Hobart, spans 70 acres of land and is known for its focus on sustainable and seasonal farming practices.

The couple will be departing in mid-May after seven years of running the farm, saying they are ready to take a break and explore new opportunities.

Fat Pig Farm, which offers paddock-to-plate feasts, workshops and events on their 70-acre property, has been a hit with foodies – with bookings selling out months in advance.

The couple have also created a Tasmanian bush foods garden in collaboration with the local Aboriginal community and a kilometre-long wildlife corridor at the farm.

Fans of the couple and their farm-to-plate venture will no doubt be disappointed by the news, but will be eagerly waiting to see what exciting new chapter the couple embark on next.
