Travellers at Hobart Airport are being met with chaos and delays today, as thousands of people attempt to jet off for work and weekends away.
Two false fire alarms that went off earlier in the afternoon caused a backlog of travellers trying to pass through the security checkpoint, with some reporting they were forced to wait 30+ minutes.
Photos show the security screening queue stretching all the way to the airport café and even spilling into the baggage collection area.

Flights departing the airport are facing delays of up to 40+ minutes while the backlog is being cleared.
Around 40 flights are scheduled to fly in and out of the airport for the remainder of the day, with passengers urged to allow for plenty of extra time.
Chief Operating Officer, Matt Cocker has apologised for the inconvenience of the evacuation that saw approximately 500 people forced out of the the Departures Hall.
“Due to the secure nature of the Departures Hall, departing passengers were required to be rescreened through security prior to their eventual boarding and departure.”
“The safety of the travelling public is our number one priority, and as such we needed to take these matters seriously and work through the required protocols.”
