Police are investigating a string of grass fires in Claremont, with officers believing youths are behind almost nightly blazes around Windermere Primary School.
Tasmania Police confirmed they were examining “several” fires in the Windermere and Cadbury Road areas between May 5 and 12.
“At this stage it is believed youths may have been responsible,” a police spokesperson said.
Tasmania Fire Service data shows at least 11 fire callouts in the area over the past 10 days.
Six of those were at Windermere Primary School at Cadbury Road, with most occurring in the evening.

Other fires have been reported along Windermere Track, Canberra Road and Branscombe Road.
Locals say the disruption is constant. “Every night this seams [sic] to be happening,” one resident wrote on social media.
A grandparent of a student claimed the fires were not limited to after hours.
“The ferals even start spot fires there while kids r [sic] at school,” she said.
“My grandson goes there. He seen [sic] plenty of fire trucks putting fires out.”

One commenter alleged a teenager was seen lighting fires from a pushbike during an earlier incident.
