Coles is looking to fill 100 positions at its new Kingston store, making it the biggest recruiter at a jobs forum next week that has already attracted more than 350 registrations.
The supermarket giant will be hiring across checkout, nightfill, bakery, produce and deli when it joins employers at the Spring Farm Village jobs forum on Wednesday, March 25.
The event, held at the Kingborough Community Hub from 6pm, aims to connect local jobseekers with around 200 roles ahead of the shopping centre’s May 20 opening.
Coles store manager Marcus Jackson said recruitment was well underway.
“Recruitment has kicked off and we’re looking forward to meeting locals who are interested in joining the team,” Jackson said.
“Kingston is a growing community and this store will be a place where locals can shop, work and connect.”
Jackson said many of the roles would likely go to locals, with some potentially landing their first job.
Other employers attending include RACT, which is seeking up to five customer service and driver training staff, and Chemist Warehouse, which wants 15 pharmacy assistants.
Food outlets Parthenon Souvlaki Bar, Smash Boy Burgers and Viva Italia Pizzeria will also recruit on the night.
Centre manager Belinda Hills said the forum reflected Spring Farm Village’s commitment to local employment.
“The jobs forum gives local jobseekers, including trainees and young people, the opportunity to secure permanent roles ahead of the centre’s opening,” Hills said.
“It also helps our tenants tap into the region’s strong local talent pool.”
Developer Tipalea is organising the event, with St Lukes among the other employers confirmed to attend.
Spring Farm Village, opposite Bunnings on the Channel Highway, opens on May 20.
