Potato Cakes: Tassie Band Causes Stir

McDonald’s Australia will sell Potato 'Scallops' for a limited time only.

Macca’s have announced the addition of a new menu item for a limited time, the Potato Scallop, which is now available at all McDonald’s locations in Tasmania and across Australia from today.

The potato snack will be served with the famous Macca’s chicken salt seasoning and will be offered alongside two new burger options and a new flavor.

However, a local Tasmanian band, The Wolfe Brothers, have caused a stir on social media this morning after they reminded people that the ‘Potato Scallops’ being served at McDonald’s are actually “potato cakes” – as they’re commonly referred to in Tassie.

McDonald’s Australia Marketing Director, Tim Kenward, said the fast-food giant is excited to launch these new menu additions.

“We’ve got the latest spins on your burger favorites, topped off with the debut of Potato Scallops with Chicken Salt and Hokey Pokey Thickshake,” he said.

“Whatever your plans are, we’ve got you covered, because nothing quite goes together like the great Aussie summer and McDonald’s.”
