A slide at a Port Sorell playground has been closed after concerns were raised about its safety.
Latrobe Council has temporarily shut the slide at the Banksia Playground on Pitcairn Street for an investigation.
The council said while the slide meets Australian Standards, they have closed it for a “thorough investigation” in light of the concerns raised.
“The safety of our community is our top priority,” a spokesperson said on social media.
“We appreciate your understanding and patience as we work to ensure our playgrounds remain safe and enjoyable for all.”
The other slide at the playground remains open for use.
Several locals have shared their own experiences with the slide, with some claiming they or their children had been injured while using it.
“I can show the bruise on my skull and shoulder blade from slide one. And take my word for it but my tailbone also still tender from both,” one person wrote.
“Our daughter hurt her face going down it and I went after. Is super fast and fun but is a solid hit for sure before you pop out,” another said.
“I never let my son go down that right side slide. It is very dangerous,” a third person commented.
