Tee times are now available for the first rounds on Country Club Tasmania’s new championship golf course ahead of its official opening in December.
Bookings opened on Wednesday, with members of the resort’s free Champions Club receiving priority access to secure the first tee times on the redeveloped 18-hole course at Prospect Vale.
The course is one of only 13 sand-capped golf courses in Australia and forms the centrepiece of a $20 million golf precinct redevelopment at the resort, about 10 minutes from Launceston’s CBD.
Tasmania continues to build its reputation as a golf tourism destination, with internationally recognised courses including Cape Wickham, Barnbougle Dunes and Lost Farm already attracting visitors from around Australia and overseas.
Seven Mile Beach recently joined the state’s growing list of acclaimed layouts.
Seven Tasmanian courses were included in the latest Australian Golf Digest Top 100 rankings.
Designed by golf course architect Robin Gibson, Country Club Tasmania draws inspiration from renowned parkland layouts in North America and the United Kingdom while incorporating Tasmania’s natural landscape.
Champions Club members can book through a newly released First to Play Package, which priority access to tee times before the course opens to the broader public.
“We’re thrilled to offer Champions Club members the opportunity to be the very first to play the Championship Golf Course,” Country Club Tasmania general manager Ross Hannah said.
The Champions Club is a free membership program that provides golfers with course updates, behind-the-scenes content and insights into the redevelopment, as well as material from course ambassador Ricky Ponting.
Ponting, the former Australian cricket captain and avid golfer, became the first person to tee off on the course earlier this year during a preview of the opening nine holes.
“Playing the first nine holes for the very first time was just extraordinary,” Ponting said at the time.
“It’s beautifully shaped, challenging in all the right ways and built to a championship standard.”
Head of golf Bryce Gorham said the preview confirmed the course was living up to expectations.
“Robin and the team have created a design that rewards strategy and precision,” Gorham said.
The redevelopment follows the opening of The Range in August 2025, with the driving range featuring TopTracer technology and a mini golf course.
