Tasmania’s COVID-19 and respiratory infection risk level has dropped from moderate to low, the Department of Health have confirmed.

Public Health Director Dr Mark Veitch says the change comes as the number of COVID-19, influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) cases in the state continue to decrease.

“Viral respiratory infections occur with varying frequency throughout the year. Making simple safe behaviours part of our everyday routines can help protect ourselves and each other, regardless of the risk level,” Dr Veitch said.

“Protect yourself and your family by covering your coughs and sneezes, staying at home if you’re unwell, and seeking medical care if you need it.”

Dr Veitch said Tasmanians that may catch COVID-19 can make use of virtual care from home with COVID@homeplus on 1800 671 738.

“They can also assist with higher risk people with flu-like symptoms, including referral for PCR testing and prescriptions of antiviral medication if you’re eligible.”
