A handful of households in East Devonport have spent the night without electricity after a car slammed into a power pole late yesterday afternoon.
The ute collided with the large pole on Tarleton Street shortly after 5:30pm on Monday and initially knocked out power to around 1,400 homes.
TasNetworks soon after downgraded the number of affected customers to about 570 through switching.
“The pole and transformer replacement will take some time yet,” a TasNetworks spokesperson said on Monday.
“Please stay at least 10 metres clear of fallen lines or other damage and report it to us on 132004.”
The outage was further reduced to only 20 nearby customers by 9pm.
“Those customers will unfortunately be without power overnight, as part of the pole and transformer replacement isn’t possible until tomorrow.”
“We’re seeking to notify those customers directly by SMS.”
Police said no serious injuries were reported in the crash.
