The reopening of Kingston’s main strip in the CBD has brought joy to one business owner, who couldn’t contain her excitement and danced in the street.
Maxie Coffee owner Sam Whang-Randall took to social media and danced while wearing a cardboard box with ‘OPEN’ written on it yesterday, in what she described as a “Happy as!” moment.

“What a relief!” she wrote.
The long closure of the road has had a significant impact on foot traffic, but as the construction works wrap up and lanes reopen to traffic, business is starting to pick up in the area.
Despite the challenges, Maxie Coffee and other businesses in the area managed to stay open throughout the closure.
The road is expected to full reopen to vehicles by the end of July.
