Hobart is the place to be for the Dark Mofo festival, as thousands of people descend on the city to enjoy the winter festivities.
The highly anticipated Winter Feast, now in its 10th year, kicks off tonight at Princes Wharf 1.
Hobart’s Lord Mayor Anna Reynolds is thrilled about the event, which runs for four nights this week and four nights next week from 4PM till 11PM.
“It is a fabulous event, it’s loved by locals and visitors,” she said.

“It’s not just a food and wine festival, it really is celebrating Tasmanian produce and it’s also a very creative use of produce and really celebrating everything about winter.”
“This festival really celebrates the depths of winter and we’re very lucky to be able to have a wonderful winter to actually acknowledge and celebrate.”

Winter Feast Food Curator Amanda Vallis said there will be a ‘record number’ of 90 store holders this year, with 20 who have never featured at the Feast before.
“And the remaining, returning store holders, that weren’t necessarily here last year, but have perhaps participated in the event in previous years… have come back to be part of this incredible event again,” she said.
Vallis said there are ‘quite a few new and exciting menus across the site’, from sushi, seafood, multicultural cuisine, new beverages and more.
“It’s a juggle, creating the perfect mix of store holders and hopefully creating a wonderful experience for everyone who attends.”
