Labor has named its candidates for Tasmania’s three southern seats, putting forward a mix of sitting MPs and political newcomers as it seeks to end the Liberals’ 11-year grip on power.

Opposition Leader Dean Winter announced the lineups for Clark, Franklin and Lyons today, with all current Labor MPs seeking re-election alongside candidates drawn from councils, unions and industry.

In Franklin, Winter will run alongside sitting MP Meg Brown. They will be joined by Unions Tasmania secretary Jess Munday, Kingborough councillor Kaspar Deane and former Lambie candidate Chris Hannan.

The Franklin ticket is completed by Amelia Meyers and Traycee Di Virgilio.

“Tasmanians have a choice this election between a fresh start under Labor or more of the same from a Liberal government with a record that speaks for itself,” Winter said.

“Our Labor team is already full of passionate Tasmanians from all walks of life and I couldn’t be more excited about the candidates we’re putting forward to join them in the parliament.”
