The Department of State Growth has confirmed that the old Cam River bridge in Somerset will be demolished starting on Monday.
Starting on February 19, the work is expected to take 10 weeks, with crews removing the old bridge between 7am and 6pm from Monday to Friday.
The recently completed replacement $19 million bridge was opened to traffic earlier this month.
State Growth say public access near the demolition site will be prohibited due to the “high-risk construction activity”.
Residents are being told to follow safety signage and to expect noise from machinery during the demolition process.
The department says that efforts will be made to minimise noise by arranging work in stages and turning off machinery when not in use.
The overall project is set to be completed by April.
