Work to tear down the old Cam River Bridge in the state’s north-west is well underway.

Demolition of the previous Bass Highway link between Burnie and Wynyard began last week and is expected to take a total of 10 weeks.

Crews are working to bring down the bridge during the day and removing fallen concrete from and around the Cam River.

The new $19 million replacement bridge, which runs parallel to the old one, was opened to traffic earlier this month.

The entire project is scheduled for completion by April.
