Devils’ Brad Cox-Goodyer out up to six weeks with AC joint sprain

Brad Cox-Goodyer has been sidelined for up to six weeks after sustaining a Grade 2 AC joint sprain during Tasmania’s VFL match against North Melbourne last weekend.

Cox-Goodyer managed to play out the game but will now enter a rehab period to strengthen the injured area.

Tasmania’s VFL High Performance Manager Ross Brosnan confirmed the defender’s return could take anywhere from two to six weeks depending on his progress.

Zach Adams is also in doubt for Saturday’s clash with Richmond at UTAS Stadium after hurting his thumb in a contest during the same match against North Melbourne.

Adams will undergo an X-ray on the thumb and will be a test for the weekend depending on the results.

On a more positive note, Josh Wolfe is closing in on a return after recovering from an abdominal wall injury sustained at local level.

Wolfe has reintegrated into full team training and will be a test for this weekend’s match.

Max Geappen is also nearing a comeback following a patellar dislocation and surgery sustained at local level.

He’s returned to high-intensity running and integrated into football training, with a projected return in one week.

Several other players remain on the injury list with longer timelines.

Max Roney sustained a quad injury while training at local level and is expected to return in three to four weeks.

Harry Brereton is recovering from a shoulder dislocation sustained at local level and is progressing through speed, conditioning and strength work.

He’s begun integrating into modified-contact team training and is expected back in three to five weeks.

Tyler McGinniss faces the longest stint on the sidelines after undergoing surgery for a plantar plate tear sustained at local level.

He’ll continue building lower-body conditioning and general strength while remaining in a boot for the next four weeks, with no confirmed return date.

The Devils take on Richmond at UTAS Stadium on Saturday.
