Lauderdale has ended a 35-year premiership drought with a 50-point thrashing of Clarence in the SFL Premier League grand final at North Hobart Oval.
Kai Cameron was the star of the day, booting a game-high seven goals.
The win avenged last year’s grand final loss to the same opponent, when Lauderdale went in as favourite and was beaten.
This time the Bombers were the underdogs, with Clarence chasing back-to-back flags.
Lauderdale controlled the game from the opening bounce.
Such was their dominance that at three quarter-time Clarence had still not matched Lauderdale’s quarter-time score.
Coach Brent Dolliver delivered the club its first premiership since it last won the Southern Amateurs cup in 1991.
Former Test cricketer Matthew Wade was a surprise inclusion and appeared to catch the Clarence defence off guard.
Wade won the ball at contest after contest, laid aggressive tackles and set up several goals.
Sam Siggins finally has a premiership medal at the age of 32, after losing the 2019 and 2024 TSL grand finals and last year’s SFL decider.
Cameron’s seven goals came after he was dropped from the Tasmania Devils VFL side and he now looks to stake a claim for a permanent spot next year.
The Devils-listed players in the Clarence side barely fired.
The loss also marked the end of Grant Fagan’s time as Clarence coach.
