“There will be 33 different types of tables being constructed of high-quality Tasmanian Oak, Huon Pine and laminate products,” Fairbrother general manager Northern Tasmania Marcus Perkins said.

“All of the work will be undertaken in our Devonport facility, utilising local suppliers wherever possible.”

The contract with Fairbrother is part of the state government’s commitment to incorporate up to $100 million in local content for the new ferries.

The arrival of the first of the new Spirit of Tasmania ferries is anticipated later this year, with the second one scheduled for 2025.
