The curtain has been lifted on the theme for the Old Nick Company’s next Uni Revue, with ‘(Dim)witted’ set to give a satirical twist to the popular film ‘Wicked’.
The 2025 show will poke fun at politics and pop culture, as was done in 2024 version ‘The Rockliff Horror Show’.
“We often try and focus on something that’s popular, topical, spicy, right at this time of the moment,” Director Ben Paine said.
“And obviously Wicked’s going to be a really good tie-in … with the Wicked movie coming out.”
Choreographer Kristy Baker said they are on the hunt for around 15 cast members to join the fast-paced sketch comedy.
“We encourage everybody that has any kind of talent in dancing, singing or acting or anybody that wants to be involved with the interview to come along and we will cast appropriately,” she said.
Baker hopes the show will draw a crowd that loves “really good live theatre” when it hits the state next year.
“We really hope that we can bring some new comedy to the stage,” she said.
“It’s always great to watch it live so it’s great that audiences can take it for what it is really enjoy it and have a good night out.”
‘(Dim)witted’ will show at the Theatre Royal in Hobart and Princess Theatre in Launceston in May next year.
