A man caught driving a Mercedes that had been unregistered for more than a decade was among several West Tamar Highway offenders stopped during a police operation on Wednesday.
The 36-year-old from Riverside was arrested along the highway at Riverside after he allegedly provided officers with a false name.
He was found to be disqualified from driving and the vehicle he was operating had not been registered in more than 15 years.
The operation, conducted with Transport Inspectors, also detected two unlicensed drivers, an unregistered vehicle and a provisional driver who failed to display P-plates.
18 vehicles with defects were also stopped, while 192 random breath tests and two oral fluid tests were carried out without any drink or drug drivers detected.
“Please do the right thing to help us keep everyone safe on the roads,” police said.
