Hobart Airport was the scene of a dramatic incident this morning as thousands of travellers began their Easter long weekends.
Police were called to the terminal around 11am on Thursday after receiving reports of a man who was “causing issues” in the passenger pick up and drop off area.
Officers arrived shortly after to find the 66-year-old man from South Hobart inside his car and told him to leave the area.
However, the driver defied the order and allegedly attempted to flee by driving the wrong way towards traffic.

His escape bid failed when he became boxed in by bollards, leaving police having to forcibly remove him from the vehicle.
The man was arrested at the scene and is now facing several charges, including aggravated assault, trespass, evade police, create a common nuisance and failing to comply with a direction of a police officer.
He is scheduled to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court on Friday.
