Initial indications from the scene show the vehicle had travelled up the Hove Way exit ramp when it left the road and crashed through a guard rail.
The collision led to the temporary closure of both the highway’s on and off-ramps to Brighton KFC and the United service centre for several hours.

The fatality marks the second on the state’s roads this year and comes off the back of a figure of 34 recorded in 2023.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
